Job Profile:
The Manager, Technical Training supports the organization objectives in developing the skills and knowledge of both internal and external (dealership technicians) stakeholders who have a direct impact on technical service quality, customer retention and brand loyalty. This is accomplished through the analysis, design, delivery and evaluation of effective training material and methods.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research & develop technical course material and content for use by dealership franchise technicians and Service Advisors by utilizing quality assurance reports/service bulletins and product information as well as verbal and/or written feedback from the After Sales field staff and dealers.
- Prepare all technical training materials including PowerPoint presentations, CD, videos, hand-outs, enrolment/attendance forms, exams and feedback questionnaires. Prepare teaching aids and props (cars, engines, parts) for internal and satellite training centers.
- Manage and maintain the technical training environment (shop, classroom, storage areas) and all related assets and facets.
- Work with outside vendors and suppliers such as Bosch and DES and US Office to ensure dealers have all the required special tools to properly service and maintain the Company product.
- Manage the Company Learning Management System for all After Sales Dealer and Company staff
- Attend Train the Trainer sessions overseas or other locations as made available.
- Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions with Company Technical Training Staff for course delivery across the country.
- Conduct Training sessions for Company Technical Staff
- Coordinate and conduct Technical training sessions across the country as needed.
- Coordinate Master Technician Competition and subsequent recognition awards/programs, including the development and implementation of the six Master’s examinations.
- Procure the necessary vehicles, and fault placement of product problems for the competition, manage all facets of the organization and implementation of the competition and the awards ceremonies
- Provide key metrics and activities to Director, Aftersales, Planning & Strategy
- Work with the Director AfterSales Planning and Strategy to effectively manage the Technical Training Department budget
- Conduct performance reviews for direct report
- Provide Technical assistance or advice to other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong computer skills (PowerPoint-intermediate to advanced)
- Proven automotive mechanical experience
- Relevant teaching experience in a technical environment
- Teacher’s certificate/diploma preferred
- Inter-provincial Licensed Technician
- Knowledge of French is an asset
