Introduction

Our client, a new Southeast Asia-based automotive brand, is expanding into the Canadian market and is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to assist with the set-up and daily operation of the Accounting department as the organization develops and expands into this new market.

Job Profile

You will work closely with key members of the management team to help ensure that accounting processes and procedures are effective, efficient and well-controlled – with the ultimate goal of enabling the dissemination of timely, accurate and relevant financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include: developing and/or supporting the preparation of financial statements and reports; overseeing A/P, A/R, accruals and fixed asset accounting functions; verifying and recording various financial transactions; preparing bank reconciliations; processing payroll as required; handling tax remittances; assisting with audits and performing a wide range of tasks as the business scales.

Qualifications / Required Skills

You have a 3+ years of experience in an intermediate accountant level (ideally with some automotive experience) and are detail-oriented with a high level of proficiency in Excel. Experience with SAP software would also be an asset.

Ideally, you have or are working towards a business or accounting-related diploma, degree or designation.  You have the ability to consistently meet deadlines and are known to perform well under pressure. Additionally, you possess a high level of integrity and a strong commitment to teamwork.

Candidates with an energetic, entrepreneurial spirit who are willing to go the extra mile and beyond the scope of their formal responsibilities will be most attracted to this role.  As a newly established business in a very exciting and dynamic segment, there will be many opportunities to expand your responsibilities, your ways of thinking and perhaps even challenge yourself beyond your ‘normal’ comfort zone.
