Our client, VinFast Auto Canada Inc., is in the early stages of executing their ambitious growth plans in Canada with a ‘Direct-to-Consumer’ business model and an aggressive retail and aftersales facility expansion over the next 12 months.

The Corporate / General Counsel will have overall responsibility and accountability for all legal inquiries including but not limited to:

  • VinFast Canada’s licenses, permits, filings, projects, and work requirements including the development of showrooms and service facilities. Will also be responsible for the Company’s legal compliance as it relates to Canada’s federal and provincial regulations and associated governing agencies. Will deliver results in the most time and cost-effective manner possible.
  • Interface and collaboration with external law firms while serving as a liaison with Vingroup’s international legal team which is based in Vietnam.
  • Interaction and relationship building with the VinFast Canada leadership team, identifying, and satisfying their needs for legal assistance and counsel.
  • Additionally, the Legal Manager will be responsible for daily matters that require legal attention and interaction with key US leaders on specific projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive legal experience. Could include a combination of corporate and law firm positions.
  • Automotive industry background as In-House Counsel and/or experience in a private practice environment with exposure to the automotive sector is highly preferred.
  • Broad understanding and ability to coordinate with different teams and legal consultants in the
    following areas: real estate/facilities development, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, privacy and data security, licensing, advertising, litigation, contract development and negotiations, and procurement transactions.
  • Experience cultivating relationships with internal stakeholders, parent company legal leaders, and relevant external governing and regulatory agencies.
  • Juris doctorate (JD) degree. Applicable advanced degree(s) a plus.
