Gary Filippini, MBA, CPA (CMA)
Senior Managing Partner

Gary is a seasoned automotive executive with 25 years of experience – at both the OEM and retail level. As a CPA, Gary started out in the Accounting area with Subaru Canada Inc. and shortly thereafter added Human Resources to his portfolio of responsibilities. Gary’s exceptional EQ, integrity and tenacious focus on process improvement brought outstanding results which were rewarded through increased responsibilities, promotions and special projects.

As a result of his efforts and accomplishments, Gary became the youngest ever member of the Subaru Canada executive team and his responsibilities included Finance & Accounting, Corporate & Strategic Planning, Administration, Customer Satisfaction & Loyalty, Consumer Support, Corporate Governance, Privacy & Data Security Officer, Information Technology, e-Business, Digital Marketing and General Manager of Subaru of Mississauga – the Company’s only corporate-owned dealership.

With this diverse scope of responsibilities, Gary was intricately involved with and most passionate about his role in overseeing the Human Resources area for nearly 20 years where he worked persistently to cultivate and promote a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement and…fun! During this period, vehicle sales grew from roughly 5,000 units per year to nearly 47,000.

Beyond his time at Subaru, Gary has been involved in a variety of businesses and entrepreneurial ventures in segments including foreign currency exchange, construction & building materials, engineering consulting, water treatment and not-for-profit organizations.

In addition to having a CPA designation, Mr. Filippini received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Administrative & Commercial Studies at Western University (King’s College) and an MBA at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business where he specialized in human resources and international business. He has a keen interest in organizational behavior and continues to study the latest trends of organizational design, employee development and the evolving dynamics of the workplace in an increasingly competitive world.

Gary’s profound understanding of and appreciation for the key human element of business success makes him an invaluable asset in helping our Marckis Group clients build top-performing teams.
