Position Objective:
Supervise all Halifax port related activities pertaining to vehicle logistics, vehicle processing, and company vehicle repair, preparation and refurbishment, including Porsche designated vehicle processing guidelines, quality actions, transportation damage repair/inspection, marine surveying, port processor guidance and direction, management and field communication, wholesale reporting, inventory responsibilities, year-end audit and reporting to Accounting, daily vehicle invoicing, supplier invoice approvals, and overall vehicle logistics efficiency improvements and projects.

Job Description:

  • Manage activities of all parties involved in vessel discharge and first point of rest inspection, including surveyors and the processor.
  • Liaison with PAG for port quality incl. completion management and execution.
  • Manage the independent processor and provide direction and approval to ensure Porsche quality on all damage repairs is met.
  • Coordinate storage locations and assignment, as well as monitor storage methods to ensure vehicle safety. Monitor vehicle inventory in different stages.
  • Manage new vehicle logistics from vessel discharge to arrival at Porsche Centre and conduct audits to ensure Porsche quality standards are met.
  • Work with processor management to keep dedicated account staff properly trained in technical and body shop areas.
  • Coordinate the IT administration activities as necessary for an external vehicle processor.
  • Responsible for all Canadian new vehicle logistics contracts incl. conducting RFP and involvement in VW Group Logistics projects.
  • Support the control of marine and carrier damage claim procedures through the PCNA Logistics Specialist & Vehicle Transportation Manager.
  • Manage and sign off on port related third party invoices and control all port related costs to assure budgets are achieved.
  • Although Port Manager directly reports to PCL Director, Sales, Port Manager also reports to PCNA Manager, Vehicle Logistics (dotted line/matrix structure)

Qualifications:

Education:

  • College degree or equivalent industry and educational experience
  • University degree in logistics

Exprerience (Job &amp Industry):

  • 7+ years of automobile transportation or processor experience
  • 5+ years of vehicle processing experience and or knowledge preferred
  • 3+ years of quality vehicle inspection experience
  • Prior vehicle logistics experience

Skills:

  • Knowledge of ocean shipment and vehicle carrier operations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Lotus Notes, AS/400 and general Microsoft Windows. Prior SAP experience a benefit.

Competencies:

  • Very good knowledge of vehicle logistics, ocean transportation, vehicle trucking, port operations, quality handling, and overall vehicle processing
  • Automobile mechanical and paint training preferred
  • Automotive certifications (ASE, OEM certifications) preferred
  • Ability to multi-task, handle multiple priorities and make decisions independently.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Planning and organization – time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with of all levels of a multi-cultural organization.
  • Excellent project management skills with proven track record of target achievement (time, quality, budget)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in (international) teams
  • Willingness to travel
  • German language skills helpful
