Job Overview:

Transtar Industries, Inc. the global leader in automotive aftermarket transmission and drivetrain-related solutions is seeking a dynamic, results-driven General Manager for its Canadian Division, King-O-Matic (KOM). The General Manager will report to the President of Transtar Industries and is responsible for the development and execution of the business strategy in Canada. Direct reports include National Sales Director, Director of Operations, Finance Controller, and Branch Managers. The ideal candidate has superb leadership skills and is team oriented with a high level of integrity and business ethics. Multi-facility management and full P&L accountability experience is required. Prior automotive aftermarket experience is highly preferred. Competitive salary, bonus, and benefit programs offered. Role will require up to 25% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish the annual operating plan in conjunction with Executive Leadership and ensure the achievement of key sales and operations initiatives.
  • Direct sales management team to achieve targeted market share by customer segment.
  • Monitor competitive trends, customer needs and develop effective strategies for sales campaigns.
  • Establish targets for current and new product lines and implement effective strategies to achieve plans.
  • Maintain an ongoing, close relationship with key customers.
  • Lead in depth reviews of all branch P&L’s to ensure cost structure and profit optimization.
  • Identify training needs, initiate appropriate programs/development of staff, and implement effective personnel actions.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement across all functional areas.
  • Seek M&A opportunities and work under direction of President to pursue select target acquisitions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on employee morale and safety throughout the organization.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline required; MBA preferred
  • Multi-facility management and full P&L accountability experience required
  • Experience leading divisions or organizations with at least $20 million of annual revenue required
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in sales, operations, and/or general management roles
  • Automotive aftermarket experience preferred
  • Formal sales training preferred
  • Experience in sourcing, closing, and integrating acquisitions preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Office, Access, Word, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of distribution based ERP systems
