Position

We are currently seeking a Financial Controller that will have overall responsibility and accountability for all finance and accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Controller will have overall responsibility and accountability for all finance and accounting activities including:

  • Establish the finance and accounting function including all processes, controls, policies, and procedures to support the goals and objectives of the Canadian business.
  • Design the department’s structure and establish/implement/lead all reporting, budgeting, forecasting, planning and financial analysis, accounting control, and compliance activities.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Canadian senior management, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Maintain ongoing interaction/communications with the VinFast Vietnam finance leadership team to collaborate on various Canadian finance and accounting activities, goals, and objectives.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor the Canadian finance and accounting team acting as a working manager.
  • Make strategic recommendations on finance and accounting matters to the CEO and the Canadian executive management team.
  • Collaborate with IT to design and establish accounting systems that make key data easily accessible.
  • Provide input/advice on long-term business and financial planning.
  • Maintain proper capital flows to fund the business’s key strategic initiatives.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • You have a CPA designation (or equivalent) with a minimum of 10-15 years of progressive work experience in finance and accounting with at least 3-5 years working in a leadership role(s) in areas such as budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, financial controls, reporting, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and/or improve accounting and financial processes in various business scenarios such as start-ups, business integrations, high-growth, or underperforming operations.
  • Experience working with different cultures, work environments, and operating styles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian compliance regulations, GAAP, IFRS, accounting, and tax related matters.
  • Experience working with auditors and outside advisors, and with SAP solution.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Power point, project management).
  • CPA, Bachelor’s degree. Applicable advanced degree(s) preferred.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese language – verbal and written communications preferred.
  • Global, ex-pat, and/or direct experience in the automotive/EV space preferred but not necessary. Prefer background with companies known for best practices.
